TEA Receives $174 Million Grant, Valley School Districts Eligible for Funds

EDINBURG – The Texas Education Agency received a $174 million grant, which will help several Rio Grande Valley school districts.
The funds go to schools that have taken in students displaced by Hurricane Harvey.
Eight Valley districts helped these students; some provided more than just educational services.
“Coming in, there were some additional costs for the families. We did have to make some additional arrangements for transportation, supplies and clothing,” says Edcouch-Elsa ISD Superintendent Ronaldo Cavazos.
