Valley Community Pay Respects at 'Unaccompanied' Veteran's Burial

MISSION – Members of the community came together to pay respects to a local veteran who was buried with honor.
Army veteran Gregory James Sabatke was buried at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
A friend of Sabatke says he was deployed to Germany and worked as a crew chief on attack helicopters.
He says Sabatke moved to the Rio Grande Valley about a decade ago and they became friends.
“My buddy passed away here just a few days ago and I’m sorry his family members couldn’t make it down, so we’ve done the best we could,” he says.
His friend says the American Legion, several law enforcement agencies and biking clubs went to honor Sabatke.
