Valley Fugitive Arrested in Laredo

LAREDO--A fugitive from the Valley was arrested at an International Bridge in Laredo.
The Pharr man was wanted on outstanding federal warrants in connection to a hostage-taking kidnapping conspiracy and failure to appear for jury trial.
21-year-old Luis Gerardo Betancourt was sentenced in absentia to life in prison.
Betancourt was turned over to U.S. marshals.
Authorities have been after him for months.
