Valley Metro Reports Driver Shortage, Routes Affected

MISSION – A passenger was left stranded far away from his home after a taking a ride on a bus.

Jose Pena tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS he rides the bus to get to a store in Mission that is 18 miles away.

He says his herniated disk makes it hard to get around.

During a recent trip, he was told the bus wasn’t coming back.

“Then we had to get some rides from here to Los Ebanos," he explains.

KRGV’s Christian von Preysing reached out to Valley Metro and found out there are 10 vacancies for driver positions.

Valley Metro is in need of drivers who have a commercial driver’s license and can pass a background check.
