RIO GRANDE VALLEY--Saturday is Veterans day. Thousands of valley veterans spent the day at different events.
There was a veterans day parade at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen. After the parade, veterans walked to the Iwo Jima monument.
One navy veteran said it's emotional seeing all the support veterans receive.
"It's amazing because I wouldn't have imagined sixty years ago, or whatever it was, that someone would say thank you," said veteran Hal Wallace.
Wallace added family members of veterans also sacrificed a lot.
