Weslaco Police Look to Identify Homeowner who Neglected 23 Pitbulls

WESLACO – Approximately 23 neglected pitbulls were removed from a home Tuesday in Weslaco.

Neighbors on South Tio Avenue say the black Mercedes vehicle in the front yard hasn’t moved for months. A silver bowl is just one of the two signs the home ever had any dogs.

Jorge Vega, a resident, says they heard the pitbulls in the backyard, but this week, temperatures suddenly dropped into the 40s; that’s when they heard the dogs crying.

Vega mentioned nobody arrived until Tuesday when police and animal control showed up because someone had complained.

Police say one was dead and 20 were euthanized. One dog is being fostered out of Weslaco Animal Care and the other has parvo.
