UPDATE (12/21): A statewide Amber Alert has been discontinued for 6-week-old Shamali Flores of Houston.

One suspect in the case was arrested. It's unknown if their apprehension was in connection with the stabbing or the disappearance of the baby girl.  

Police initially considered her father, Thomas Bernardez, as a suspect in the murder. 

He was later found at a home in San Antonio.

HOUSTON – An Amber Alert was issued for 6-week-old Shamali Flores of Houston.

Police are looking for her father, 30-year-old Thomas Bernardez in connection with the child’s abduction.

He was last heard from in the Houston area. The baby's mother was found dead around noon Tuesday in North Houston.

Police say Bernardez is a possible suspect in the stabbing death of the baby's mother.

Bernardez is described as a black male, 5 foot, 9 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

He is driving a blue 2000 Toyota Celica with a Texas state license plate number, CM7-L340.

Officials believe the child is in grave or immediate danger.
