BROWNSVILLE – A Houston company nabbed a 10-year tax break from Cameron County.
The deal is expected to create jobs locally while saving a liquefied natural gas exporter hundreds of millions of dollars.
People both for and against the new LNG project have an unexpected common ground: they are against the tax abatement commissioners passed.
On Tuesday, county commissioners voted in lieu of paying property taxes, Annova LNG will make a onetime payment of $5.5 million for projects in the community.
