HARLINGEN- Officials with the city of Harlingen are warning residents about fraudulent phone calls.

They say residents are receiving the calls from someone claiming to be with the Harlingen Fire Department.

The calls appear to come from a local number.

The person on the other line is asking for donations to help victims of last month's flooding.

If you receive one of these calls, you're urged to report it to the Harlingen Police Department's non-emergency number, (956) 216-5940.
