Harlingen Resident Concerned About Drainage Ditch

HARLINGEN – A local man says a drainage ditch in a retirement community is a flood and fire concern.
Steve Robenolt says he lives close to a ditch in Cotton Wood Retirement Community.
Robenolt says he’s called the Cameron County Drainage District 3 and they claim they’re behind on maintenance.
"Back in June when we had those bad rains some of the ditch washed out," he says.
Cameron County Drainage District 3 General Manager, Sonia Lambert, says heavy rainfall inundated the district, putting them behind schedule.
Lambert says maintaining such a large area means it takes about four to six months to get to certain ditches such as the one on Cotton Wood Creek.
