Starr Co. Deputy Undergoes Surgery after Being Hit by Car

RIO GRANDE CITY – A Starr County deputy was hospitalized after being hit by a car in Rio Grande City on Sunday.
He underwent surgery overnight for fractures in his right ankle and his left leg.
We’re told the surgery went well.
Authorities say he was assisting police as they were serving a warrant.
The suspect fled from the scene onto the highway when the deputy ran after him and was hit by a car.
The suspect was arrested at the scene.
