Wildlife Refuge Makes Changes for Hunters Due to Gov't Shutdown

LOS FRESNOS – Due to the government shutdown, hunters at a Rio Grande Valley wildlife refuge are on their own.

The park manager at Laguna Atascosa Wildlife Refuge says, during the shutdown, no assistance will be provided to help hunters retrieve animals from a field, even large animals.

The hunts are help to control the spread of population of wild hogs, nilgai and other species that spread the cattle fever tick.
