WESLACO – A person is in custody following a deadly shooting overnight at a home in rural Weslaco.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office says the victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. Sheriff Eddie Guerra says the victim was after something inside in the home.

Guerra confirmed it was a robbery and subsequent shooting at the scene on Saltillo Circle and Durango Drive.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Emanuel Alvarado. Guerra says Alvarado was not the only person who participated in the robbery.

Investigators are on the scene still trying to identify people who were inside the home at the time. They are investigating the homeowner.
