Disaster declarations are now filed in Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties. Some areas in the Rio Grande Valley received as much as 14 inches of rain. Many Valley residents are dealing with high water in their neighborhood, extensive damage to their homes and the loss of their belongings.

KRGV and Lone Star National Bank are teaming up to help those impacted by the recent rain. All donations will benefit the Helping Hand Disaster Relief program of Habitat for Humanity of the Rio Grande Valley.

The program will assist with reconstruction and support for those who have been affected by this disaster. Help will include rebuilding, repairing, as well as providing furniture, blankets and pillows. Recipients are screened by Habitat for Humanity of the Rio Grande Valley. They must provide proof of damage or be a referral from a church or other organization.

In addition, recipients must provide a permanent residence card and proof of income. A family is considered low-income if they earn equal to or less than the following limits.
