Breast cancer affects one in eight women in the U.S. In the 40 years since Breast Cancer Awareness Month began, 5-year relative survival rates have increased from around 75% to more than 90%.
Survivors willing to share their stories are part of the reason for that increase.
Breast cancer survivor Veronica Gomez spoke with Channel 5 News' Charlie Yaeger to share her story on battling breast cancer.
