WESLACO – Authorities say two men are in custody in connection to the deaths of two musicians in Tamaulipas.

The state’s general attorney’s office announced Tuesday that the two individuals, one from Guatemala and another from Tamaulipas, are expected to be charged with double homicide.

The duo is accused of kidnapping and killing the two brothers, from the town of Rio Bravo, who were also members of a band called Los Norteños.

Both men, who are allegedly tied to a criminal group out of Matamoros, face up to 50 years in prison.

Mexican authorities say this is the second man from Guatemala that they arrest in the past 15 days with ties to an organized criminal group.
