$2 million project gives Edinburg CISD wrestlers their own training facilities
Edinburg CISD just opened four new wrestling practice facilities, one for each of its high schools.
Before the new facilities opened, wrestlers shared gym space with basketball players and cheerleaders or practiced in the cafeteria.
Coaches say the designated space will help teams better prepare for their seasons.
"Sometimes we are far behind because we don't have anywhere to practice until the actual season," Edinburg CISD Wrestling Coach Abel Saenz said. "Right now we're having a little bit of mat time in the summer, which was never an option in the summer."
The district paid for the $2 million project using district funds.
