The Alton Police Department arrested a 20-year-old man after he confessed to spray painting graffiti along walking trails at Josefa Garcia Park, according to a news release.

The graffiti was reported Sept. 17. Alton officials said a seating area and other items were spray painted. The cost of the total damage was $1,100.

According to a news release, Bryan A. "El Chamuco" Espinosa was interviewed by investigators and confessed to the graffiti incident.

Espinosa was charged with Class A misdemeanor graffiti, with bond set at $50,000.

We care about our community and take pride in protecting the places our residents and families enjoy,” police said in a statement. “Strong partnerships and positive relationships between law enforcement and our community make Alton a safer place for everyone.”
