2nd Suspect Charged in Connection to Deadly Shooting in Edinburg

UPDATE (8/1): The second person accused in the death of a 26-year-old in Edinburg was charged with capital murder. 

Thirty-one-year-old Mario Powell, of McAllen, went before a judge on Tuesday.  

Powell and 25-year-old Bernardo Garcia Jr. are accused in the shooting death of Marquis Devon Holiday. Police said they found him with gunshots wounds when they arrived to the Edinburg home. 

Edinburg Assistant Police Chief Oscar Trevino said the shooting stemmed from a drug deal gone bad.

EDINBURG – A second suspect was arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Edinburg. 

A man was shot to death early Saturday morning. Edinburg Assistant Police Chief Oscar Trevino said it happened at 1 a.m. in the 1000 block of Tori Lane.

Trevino said when officers arrived, a man in front of a residence had multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The motive of the shooting is under investigation.
