CDC Lowers Threat Level of Zika in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE – The Center of Disease Control announced the threat of travel-related cases of Zika in Brownsville is low.

Previously, the CDC had classified Brownsville as a precautionary yellow area. That meant those that visited the city were cautioned to be extremely careful about mosquitoes.

They even recommend pregnant women not visit Brownsville at all.

On Wednesday, the CDC removed the yellow area warning, stating on there are no longer travel restrictions for the city and the risk of Zika transmission is likely to be low.
