WESLACO – The Texas Department of Public Safety is ramping up patrols this holiday season for the expected increase of traffic.

State troopers say they’ll be cracking down on dangerous drivers throughout the next couple of weeks, and especially on the weekends.

"Be aware of your surroundings. If you're fatigued, don't be driving; it's as if you're driving intoxicated. Buckle up. Reduce your speed. Drive according to the conditions of the road and do not be driving intoxicated," says DPS Sergeant Maria Montavlo.

KRGV’s John Paul Barajas has the details.
