Edinburg officials broke ground on Monday on a $7.2 million project at Ebony Hills Golf Course that will bring a two-story building with golf operations and a workforce resource center to the city.

The first floor will house golf operations. The second floor will include a workforce resource center and conference spaces.

The center will offer job skills training, resume help and educational programs for people of all ages.

"We're partnering with South Texas College, with UTRGV and with some other private education folks. Zoho Corporation we hope will teach some classes out here," Edinburg Mayor Omar Ochoa said. "So the idea is to have public education offerings that the entire community can come out and enjoy."

The city will also add automated irrigation to the course.

Golf operations will continue through an auxiliary facility during construction.

Construction is set to wrap in summer 2027.
