Edinburg Police: 27-Year-Old Victim Found with Gunshot Wound in Crash

UPDATE (5 P.M.): Edinburg police confirmed the 27-year-old man that crashed near the Hidalgo County courthouse was shot. 

The victim, identified as Joshua David Sanchez, crashed into a light post near 10th and McIntyre streets and died on the way to the hospital. 

Edinburg Assistant Police Chief Oscar Trevino told CHANNEL 5 NEWS authorities continue searching for a bullet casing near the crash site.

EDINBURG – A man who appeared to have been shot before he crashed his car near the courthouse was identified.

Police identified the victim as Joshua David Sanchez of Edinburg.

When police arrived, Sanchez appeared to have been shot. That has not been confirmed.

Sanchez died while being transported to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance.

An autopsy on the 27-year-old was ordered to determine the exact cause of death. 

The case is being investigated as a homicide
