Edinburg to host 5K walk and run for suicide awareness
Edinburg, TX (KRGV) — A 5K run and walk for suicide awareness is happening in Edinburg.
The 6th annual Run for Hope 5K is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Edinburg Municipal Park. The run starts at 7 a.m.
The event closes out September, which is Suicide Awareness Month. According to the CDC, more than 2 million people attempted suicide in the U.S. this year alone.
Linda Frates, founder of ISGOD, Individual Support Group Overcome Depression and Patricia Lerma, program coordinator for NAMI STRGV joined Channel 5 News to share details about the event.
