Family Holding on to Hope to Locate Loved One
EDINBURG – This month marks two years since Daniel Sekula was last seen by friends. His family says not knowing where he is or what’s happened to him is becoming increasingly difficult.
The Sekula family tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS they’ve decided to speak to us because they need the publics’ help discovering where Daniel Sekula is or what has happened to him.
Sekula went missing in 2016. The family tells us his ex-wife Elisa Sekula was the last family member to see him alive in Jan. 2016.
Later that year, in March, Sekula’s neighbor reported seeing him. The family tells us in Jul. 2016 they were notified by the sheriff’s office that Daniel’s camper and truck were found in Cameron County.
Since that date, the family tells us there have been no genuine leads or information on his whereabouts.
“Somebody somewhere saw something, heard something. I know that person or whatever maybe scared, but I would just tell them look, come on, help us out. If you know if you heard something get a hold of the sheriff’s office,” said Elisa Sekula.
The Sekulas tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS they are unsure if Daniel is still alive or if he’s been murdered.
The family says they are staying hopeful, but are beginning to believe Daniel may have been murdered. They tell us they are still offering a substantial reward for any credible information.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office says this is still an open missing person’s investigation. They urge anyone with information to their criminal investigation division at 956-383-8114.
If you’d like to stay anonymous, you can call the Hidalgo County Crime Stoppers at 956-668-8477.
