BROWNSVILLE – A deputy is out of a job and facing charges.

He's accused of tampering with records of an arrest.

Former deputy with Cameron County Joshua Guajardo responded to a call in August and made an arrest for public intoxication.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says the arrest should have been for driving while intoxicated.

He says Guajardo broke the law tampering with government records in the course of the arrest.

He is now out on bond.
