RIO HONDO-- A grass fire in Rio Hondo is now out.
The fire started around 1 p.m. near the intersection of 106 and 345.
The Rio Hondo police chief said the fire burned about two acres. No one was hurt, but some animals were killed.
The fire was only a dozen feet from a nearby gas station. The police chief says the high winds helped spread the fire.
The winds also picked up dust from nearby farm fields - making the area very hazy and difficult to see. The cause of this fire is under investigation.
