After spending three seasons as a recruiting operations assistant at Texas, Cameron Herrera returned to the Rio Grande Valley as the primary contact for recruiting operations. He organizes game day visits for high school prospects.

"They told me last year they didn't have any game day visitors for the high school level just because there wasn't someone like, in my position, to sort of host them or just take care of them and make sure everything is situated," Herrera said.

Herrera said the same process goes for transfer portal prospects, but those visits move faster.

A game day visit includes a tour of the Vaqueros Performance Center. Recruits also see the weight room, the team room and the locker room before heading to Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium for a sideline view of the field and team warmups before kickoff.

"Providing the best overall experience in terms of showing them the best customer service and stuff like that, making sure they know this is the place where we want them to be and they want to be because ultimately it's their decision," Herrera said.
