Harlingen, TX (KRGV) — Harlingen is close to finishing improvements on more than 12 miles of city streets this year.

The city has already completed work on 28 streets and has about NINE more to go.

Washington Avenue and West Roosevelt Road are next on the list.

"We just purchased for the 2026-2027 budget a large paver, so we'll be able to do these streets even faster,” Harlingen City Commissioner Daniel Lopez said. “So when you think of the streets that are two to four lanes wide, we can start knocking out two lanes essentially in one sweep." 

The work is on track to be done in November.
