LA JOYA – Police in a Rio Grande Valley city are seeing an increase in people evading arrest and not complying. This sudden spike is leading them to seek more weapons.

For the first time, the La Joya Police Department is getting Tasers. An electric shock for police they hope helps.

Currently when police respond to a call, they only have two weapons: pepper spray and a gun. Their backup? Necessary force.

A common situation La Joya police are finding themselves in is assisting Border Patrol in smuggling attempts. Law enforcement is bound to find people who will not comply with officers.
