A 46-year-old nurse for the Monte Alto Independent School District touched a 10-year-old’s genital area “several times in the course of a year,” according to a criminal complaint obtained by Channel 5 News.

Ruben Del Toro was arrested on Sept. 30 on two counts of indecency with a child after the child’s mother contacted authorities on Aug. 20 to report that the nurse had touched her child inappropriately during school hours.

According to the complaint, the unidentified student told authorities Del Toro touched her genitalia while at the school nurse’s station “when she was being treated for pain to her foot.”

The child reiterated the outcry during a forensic interview and a SANE exam.

As of Tuesday night, Del Toro is still listed as the district nurse for Montel Alto Elementary School on the Monte Alto ISD website. Hidalgo County jail records show he was released on a $100,000 bond the same day he was arrested.
