Nearly $4M in funds allocated to behavioral health clinic in Edinburg to cover mental health issues

U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-McAllen) presented $3.7M in federal funding to a behavioral health clinic Monday morning.

According to a news release, Texas Tropical Behavioral Health in Edinburg received the funds for the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service Grant Program.

Officials said the goal is for the money to help people suffering from mental health issues resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.

Tropical Texas Behavioral Health CEO Terry Crocker said the money would go to all four clinics across the Valley.

“The funds will allow us to step up,” Crocker said. “As well as extend access to care.”
