BROWNSVILLE – Nearly 15 years after three Brownsville children were murdered by their parents, closure came in the form of a park.

In 2003, John Allen Rubio and his common-law wife, Angela Camacho, beat, stabbed and beheaded their three children in their home.

The building where it happened was torn down and the Tres Angeles Park built in its place. The spot features three trees planted for the children.

Two of trees are blooming pink for 3-year-old Julissa and 2-month-old Mary Jane and another one is blooming blue for 1-year-old John.

The Tres Angeles Park is located on East Tyler and East 8th streets in Brownsville.

A former judge, Ben Neece, said the park will serve as a memory for the children.

“The memorial here for the three children that were murdered back about 15 years ago, and Tres Angeles is the name of the park here,” he said. “We want to keep their memory alive.” said.

Neece said the park will provide closure for the community.
