EDINBURG – The process begins in Edinburg that could lead to the removal of Mayor Richard Molina.

This comes after his arrest and accusations that his actions might have changed the outcome of the November 2017 election.

The process is unfolding after a private citizen, Robert Solis, submitted a signed affidavit to the city secretary – which is an official complaint against the mayor.

According to the city charter, after Solis receives the petition forms, he will have 30 days to collect 300 signatures.

Solis planned to submit this affidavit Wednesday morning but was denied entrance at first.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS followed him as he entered city hall Wednesday morning and was denied entrance at first.

He decided to head to the information desk again and was told to return later in the afternoon; he could have left his affidavit with other employees but preferred to deliver straight to the city secretary.
