Rio Grande City Grulla ISD educator faces sexual assault of a child charges
Starr County, TX (KRGV) — The Starr County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation of a Rio Grande City Grulla ISD educator who faces charges that include an improper relationship between an educator and a student and two counts of sexual assault of a child, the sheriff’s office said.
According to a sheriff’s office booking report, Francisco Contreras Jr. on Wednesday. County jail logs do not currently list him.
The sheriff’s office said it took the investigation after a recent ruling about school district police departments investigating cases that involve students. A sheriff’s office spokesperson confirmed the educator is from Rio Grande City Grulla ISD.
On Wednesday, the day Contreras was arrested, Rio Grande City Grulla ISD said it suspended an educator.
The suspension followed allegations of "serious misconduct involving an educator and a student," district officials said.
