Two high school bands in Starr County have new places to practice ahead of football season.

Rio Grande City High School and Grulla High School both got painted practice fields in parts of their parking lots, designed to look like a real football field.

"[It’s] to give the students the direction they need to be placed. This will help strengthen our band team," Rio Grande City Grulla ISD spokesperson Adrian Ozuna said.

New lights were also added so the bands can practice in the evenings, when it is not as hot.
