UPDATE (12/22): Police have identified and detained the man who was caught on video surveillance stealing a purse from a woman in Brownsville. 

As per a Brownsville Police Department update on social media, the suspect will be arraigned on Saturday.

BROWNSVILLE – Brownsville police say a thief was caught on camera stealing an elderly woman’s purse as she walked down the street.

In the video, you see the woman walking down the 800 block of East Adams Street when a blue Ford Ranger pulls up.

It all happened around 7:30 Wednesday morning.

The driver of the truck jumps out, walks over to the 81-year-old and snatches her purse right out of her hands.

He ran back to his truck and sped off.

The woman is seen left standing in the middle of the road.
