Texas Game Wardens ramp up water patrols across RGV for Labor Day Weekend
Texas Game Wardens are stepping up patrols on the water this Labor Day weekend.
Boaters can expect to see extra crews out on the water enforcing water safety laws.
"Here in Cameron County, we're a nine-warden duty station, and all the game wardens will be on duty. We're going to have multiple vessels on the water, not only in the Arroyo City area but also in Port Mansfield, South Padre Island area," Texas Game Warden Calvin Atkinson said. "So, along with our other partners in the water, like the Coast Guard, we're going to be out enforcing the water safety laws in the state of Texas."
Boating while intoxicated carries the same penalties as driving while intoxicated.
Boaters are also reminded to keep a safe distance from other boats while out on the water.
