Tour of New Donna Immigrant Tent Facility
UPDATE (5/3): Immigrants have not been transferred to tent facility in Donna.
On Thursday, we were told the facility would be in use within 24 hours but that doesn't seem to be the case.
The multi-million dollar facility is under contract to operate for four months.
DONNA – The new immigrant tent facility in Donna is now ready to be used.
Hundreds of immigrant families and unaccompanied children will have access to running water, electricity and air conditioning.
Agents expect to hold families and children no less than 72 hours.
“We're initially scheduled to run it for four months; we do have month to month ability to extend," explains the Border Patrol Executive Officer of Law Enforcement Programs, Carmen Qualia.
KRGV’s Angelo Vargas made a visit to see the layout where immigrants will be staying.
