ROMA – Drivers at the bridges in Brownsville, Progreso and Hidalgo are waiting up to an hour – drivers at the Roma International Bridge are waiting up to three hours.

TxDOT’s public information officer, Octavio Saenz, says they’re creating an update to the border transportation master plan.

"We're also involved with the border trade advisory council and we are not just looking at highways that belong to the state of Texas we're also engaged with the feds on both sides of the border to see how we can improve this as a system,” explains Saenz.

KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez explains the plan isn’t just for vehicle improvements; it also includes pedestrians, bicycles and buses.
