WASHINGTON D.C. – More people are expressing concern following U.S. Congressman Filemon Vela’s decision to boycott the inauguration.

Vela’s press release said the offenders were inauguration attendees. Sources in the Rio Grande Valley said other children were offending migrant children at the event.

According to the information Vela’s office sent out, Trump’s cabinet does not have Latino representation for the first time in 36 years.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke to a man who happened to be outside of the Canon house, where Vela’s office is located.

Rudy Arredondo said he is the president and CEO of the National Latino Farmers and Ranchers Trade Association. He said his group has 38,000 members in Texas.

“I’m from Edinburg. That’s outrageous. Well, if they don’t get their act together, they’re not going to have any stable labor force,” he said. “This has been the most vulgar presidential campaign that I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve been involved since John F. Kennedy was elected back in the 60s.”

We also spoke to another Texas resident. Jaime Perez is currently a teacher at El Paso.

“I think right now the focus should be on a peaceful transition of power. Like Mr. Trump or not like him, he is the next president,” he said. “I think we have to be very careful, in terms of ensuring that the message that we send out is that we need to respect the process.”

Arredondo said having the wrong attitude towards the people who put food on tables is outrageous and uncalled for.
