Weslaco ISD is building new three-level band towers at its two high schools, funded by a 2023 bond.

The new towers will replace structures that are more than 25 years old, and will cost a combined $370,000.

The district says the towers will give band directors and drum majors a better view during practice so they can help students fix formations before performances and competitions.

"We needed some upgrades; there were some new, better products that were out there on the market," Weslaco ISD spokesperson Carlos Robledo said. "So, this was an opportunity for us to invest not only in our staff, but also in our students and give them a competitive advantage when it comes to band marching season."

Construction starts June 1, 2026, at Weslaco High School and Weslaco East High School. Both towers are expected to be done by the end of the year.
