The Edinburg North Cougars missed the playoffs in 2024. This year, the team looks to get back into the mix with new head coach Rigo Morales, who brings over 10 years of experience over in the coastal bend area where he spent some time at Corpus Christi Carroll and most recently with the Bishop Badgers.

Coach Morales is excited to begin this new chapter in the Rio Grande Valley.

"It's been amazing," Morales said. "The kids have been very receptive to our style of coaching. We look forward to it."

"These coaches bring nothing but the best," senior linebacker Brian Morado added. "That's all we can really say."

The Cougars are returning 7 starters from last year's squad. Quarterback Jorge Trevino and wide receiver Kiandre Estrada will command the offense. Meanwhile, linebackers Vicente Cappa-Dona and Brian Morado will anchor the Edinburg North defense.

"The kids are hungry," Coach Morales said. "They want to win. The kids want to learn about the game, so it's our job to put them in the best position possible on any given night."

Edinburg North takes on Edinburg Vela in week 1. The Cougars begin district play at home against Edinburg Economedes, and they finish the season facing the Edinburg Bobcats.
