A tire shop in Mission was broken into over the weekend, and the owners are now working to prevent it from happening again.

Two people stole tools from All Valley Tire and Wheel Shop on Saturday night. Surveillance video caught the suspects taking a dolly, a floor jack, and a commercial fan around midnight.

The stolen items were worth about $800. This is the third time the shop has been targeted.

The owners had left the items outside because there was no space inside. The shop sits near a railroad track, and the two suspects were seen walking along it before taking the items.

"Those things are really helpful here at the shop, and for someone just to do that really hits hard," owner Rebecca Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said the shop relies on those tools to keep operations running and employees comfortable.

"We utilize them to service our vehicles here to keep our employees cool in the hot weather, so we really need those items," Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said she is already taking steps to improve security. She plans to add 4 cameras to the back of the shop this week.

"We plan to upgrade our camera system and maybe put some more lighting up there," Gonzalez said. "We weren't able to fence it all around because of all the railroad tracks being so close to the back. They also use the same entrance as we do. So we will continue to add more lighting back there."

A nearby business, Danny's Tires and Accessories, is also paying attention to what happened.

"We just got to be a little bit more careful again," salesman Juan Angel Falcon said. "We make sure we don't leave anything personal, like our customers usually do; they take them on a daily basis. If we leave anything behind, we put it inside our shop."

Falcon said security cameras help the business keep watch over the property.

"We usually have our cameras running 24/7, and other than that, I think our cameras are on. So anything that happens, we check it daily," Falcon said.

The Mission Police Department said they plan to assign an investigator to the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
