A breakdown provided by Abbott of how some of that money has been used includes:
- • $31.7 million used by the Texas Department of Public Safety
- • $5.9 used by the Texas Criminal Justice Department to staff jails
- • $1.4 million used by the Texas health department on immigration-related health concerns. That figure does not include Covid-related expenses.
- • $6.8 million responding to the Haitian immigrants in Del Rio. That number is expected to increase.
