BROWNSVILLE - Some students at Brownsville Independents School District are facing some changes following the approved the closure of three elementary schools.

Guadalupe Hernandez used to walk her daughter to Victoria Heights Elementary every day; this year she won't be able to do that.

"She feels weird because it's a different school and she's already been through a lot of change," says Hernandez.

Hernandez says she got a letter in the mail about new bus routes this week.

She says knowing that her daughter will ride the bus with familiar faces gives her comfort, even though she'll have new classmates.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke to Brownsville ISD transportation assistant administrator Heber Olguin.

He says the district added new bus routes for students from all three schools that closed.

In total eight new routes were added to transport students from their old schools to their new ones.
