Registration is now open for the city of Harlingen's Holiday Glow Up Contest: Spooky Edition.

Community members are invited to decorate their homes and businesses for Halloween and bring their best spooky vibe for a chance to win.

The contest is open to residents and businesses located within the city of Harlingen, and participants must register by Oct. 1. Decorations must be installed by Oct. 11.

Judges will then visit registered locations from Oct. 12 through Oct. 18. Participants do not need to be present during the visit.

All decorations must be visible from a public street or accessible public area, as judges will not enter private property.

Displays must be illuminated during the designated judging period and must be family-friendly and appropriate for public viewing.

There will be four separate categories for homes and businesses.

Winners will be contacted between Oct. 19 and Oct. 22 and must respond to accept the award. The city will announce the winners on social media by Oct. 23.

Each contest winner will receive a special city of Harlingen prize basket filled with exclusive city merchandise, along with a custom winner yard sign to display at their home or business.
