DONNA – The father of a murder victim spoke to CHANNEL 5 NEWS after learning the suspect accused of killing his daughter was found dead in Mexico

The daughter of Efrain Solis was killed back in February inside her apartment.

Last week, Solis was told the man who killed his daughter was found dead in Mexico.The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office says it was confirmed through fingerprints.

"I received a phone call last Tuesday from the FBI task force informing me that they needed to talk to me," said Solis.

Solis says the FBI had information that the suspect, Isai Verela, was found dead.

"On Thursday morning, they called me and said fingerprints...biometrics had been confirmed that it was him," said Solis.

Verela was accused of gunning down Solis' 26-year-old daughter, Felicia Solis, and 30-year-old Jose Alfredo Zuniga back in February. It happened in Donna at an apartment complex on Alberta Road.

Felicia Solis' two children were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. The children were not hurt.

Verela had been on the run ever since.

Felicia's father said he remembers that night clearly.

"We had a little get together. She left around 9:30 and somewhere within an hour or two hours...from what I learned, he was waiting for her there at the apartment complex in the dark," said Solis.

Solis told us he felt relieved when authorities told him that Verela was dead. He said his only regret is not being able to ask Verela one question.

"In reality, I wanted justice. But I wanted him in jail because I really wanted to be able to confront the gentleman...the man, and ask him why," said Solis.

Solis said three families were ruined that February night.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputies said Verela was involved in a shootout with the Mexican military and killed.
