Harlingen city commissioners approve rate increases for water, sewer
Harlingen water and sewer customers will soon pay more after city commissioners gave final approval to the new rates Wednesday night.
For most common residential meters inside city limits, the minimum water charge will go from $9.91 to $12.39.
The minimum sewer charge will increase from $7.73 to $9.66.

As previously reported, the Harlingen Waterworks System said the additional revenue is needed to help pay for water and sewer projects.
Those projects include work to increase capacity at the wastewater plant, replace a major wastewater line, and replace a lift station in north Harlingen.
The new rates take effect October 1.
