Illegal Dump Site in Edinburg Could Clog Drainage Systems
EDINBURG - Hidalgo County officials say illegal dumping continues to be an issue and a lot of garbage could end up clogging vital drainage systems.
Hidalgo County Precinct Four cleans the piles of debris left behind on Wisconsin Road in Edinburg; the person dumping the garbage remains a mystery.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke to External Operations Director for Precinct Four, Tony Forina, about the issue.
Forina says people can call their local precinct for help when encountering an illegal dumping site.
“When we come into the site and separate what could be brush and what could be trash...if there is an animal in there that we need to remove as well,” he says.
Forina recommends filing a work order to help the county prepare for the storms and avoid flooding.
